Christmas is for Giving Back

by Steve on December 26, 2016

Ben Carson said, “Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.” Mother Teresa stated, “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” And Jesus, in his teachings, said that, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Angie, Tori, and I spent Friday morning at Build a Bear at the Greenwood Mall making up the required bears for the younger Riley Kids on the Oncology floor and buying gift cards for the older kids. We can relate to all the quotes above. To know that we would help children with cancer to forget, even for five minutes, that they were spending Christmas in the hospital, brings so much joy to us. To know that we are doing this in the name of our Princess and spreading the type of love that she had in her heart is beyond explanation.

Blessings were shared all around by doing this again this year. But, the blessings originated from a man that only wants to be known as Mr. Anonymous. This man gives from his heart and allows us to do the things that we do and we are so grateful to him. He was touched by Brianna’s story and has bought in to the mission of the lovingBri Fund. I wish I could tell you who he is but I will not reveal it to honor his wishes. What I will do is ask for you to pray for this man to be blessed and to continue to bless the kids. We thank him for allowing the lovingBri Fund to be a part of his giving.

In the picture collage above you can see us having fun at Build a Bear. People looked at us like we were crazy but when they heard why we were buying eight bears they seemed a little less put out by the long wait at the stuffing station. The Christmas tree at Riley is beautiful and Tori made it look even better. Eight bears and a bag of gift cards are by her feet. We were really excited to have to buy many less gifts this year because that means there were less kids on the oncology floor than last year. That is a victory and a blessing in itself.

To those of you who gave to the cause, thank you! To those of you who could not give but prayed for the success of the fundraiser, thank you! To Mr. Anonymous, who continues to challenge us by matching any money we can come fundraise, we thank you!!! Your heart has made this possible. To the kids and their families who spent Christmas in the hospital, we hope you had a Merry Christmas. God Bless you and our prayers are with you.
